Staff Development Mission 1. Create embedded staff development opportunities that inspire teachers 2. Hire experts in the field 3. Provide time for teachers to internalize new learning.
How Lincoln Met the Staff Development Goal Jon provided entertaining art and literacy training for each grade level, several classes at a time meeting in the mulit-purpose room. Each grade level produced a uniquely different product. While students created, Jon met with teachers from each grade level and shared information on six keys to literacy, unique tools for achieving the Common Core and how to enhance assessment through art.
That same day, after school on Wednesday, teachers enthusiastically shared their student products and described a whole new level of student engagement.
In order to cement new learning, we will schedule Mr. Pearson for a followup workshop in 2016-2017.
My two take aways: 1. Increase auditory choral repetition of key ideas. 2. Use art as a medium to re-tell content. Students fold paper into squares. Students read content then retell to their neighbors through images.
