HOW TO DO MATH:  KNOWING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NOT KNOWING AND NOT KNOWING YET!

FREE MATH LEARNING WEBSITES AND TOOLS: MATH APPS, EXTENSIONS AND WEB LINKS

The internet provides abundant FREE resources to supplement student learning, all designed to elevate student "confusion" to a "conclusion".    Khan Academy set the standard for innovative online instruction, however there are other powerful resources:  LEARN ZILLION, Bill Gates' investment in "Teachers for Teachers", recruited the best teachers in the United States to develop K-12 Common Core video instruction in math and language arts. The Virtual Nerd provides, 3-7 minute math training videos, and Pearson.com released their pre-Common Core  math text books, which provide spectacular video training, and online assessments.  New releases reflect the advancement in immersion technology tools, such as Braingenie which adds another layer of engagement,  multiplayer games and leaderboards within math and science content.

MATH GAMES: Math Games for K-8 is an exciting suite of games that uses a customized learning approach based on each student’s mastery of a skill.  Because it adapts to student strength, and provides powerful feedback loops, students won’t get bored.  These skills are perfectly aligned to grade level curriculum standards and usually take less than five minutes to complete.  A great way to review or practice previous learning or a place to accelerate one's skills.  Teachers can set up classrooms and monitor student progress through learning platforms like Edmodo and Google Classroom   Link on picture or:  https://www.mathgames.com/

MATH PLAYGROUND .https://www.mathplayground.com/
This COPPA Certified (kids safe) provides a whole series of math, logic games organized by grade level, but their best resources is

THINKING BLOCKS below. These problem solving activities will accelerate student's math understanding.  Note, this site offers a premium version to eliminate advertisements and unlock premium games.
Their excellent games and math problem solving through Thinking Blocks (called the bar model in Common Core) is one of the best sites I have found for students and teachers.

 THINKING BLOCKS: K-8
Model and solve word problems.

Thinking Blocks use visual patterns to discover complex math relationships from adding and subtracting to beginning algebra.
This is similar to Singapore math.
Singapore traditionally scores at the top of international math tests because their students SEE math, not DO math. These game-based practices are easy, yet promote deep understanding of making sense of problems. They also train students' brains to reason abstractly and quantitatively.
